Simple Tips to Control the Mind

The mind is the chief executive officer (CEO) of the sensory modalities, and it's endowed with so much executive power; but if we desire real safety in this world, we cannot resonate with the unwholesome demands of the mind. When the mind begins its bizarre effort to distract us from our set goals, we should be courageous to ignore its rascally attempts, monitor information from within and without, and adjust our internal bearing with supra-mundane intelligence, in a bid to remain focused on our goals. That’s one potent way to control the obstinate mind.
Sound plays an important role in either revolutionizing or degrading our existence. For instance, the life of a sleeping man in a burning house could be saved by loudly calling out to him, which would awaken him, and therefore he could run out from the building. Similarly, sonic therapeutic intervention, or audition and recapitulation of transcendental sound vibrations, has been proven to be a very useful strategy for controlling the unruly mind. Listening to transcendental musical vibrations also helps to rejuvenate the mind with supra-mundane consciousness.
The types of foods and drinks we take go a long way to help to determine our state of mind. Discernibly, one who is intoxicated with alcohol cannot control his/her mind. More than a few humans are already fully intoxicated by lust, greed, anger, etc.  For most intelligent people, there would be no need to abuse the body with intoxicants, because it reduces our chances of controlling the mind. Therefore, we need to live at opposite polarity with intoxicants and hard drugs if we truly desire to control the mind. Vedic literature (Prabhupada, 2011) brings to bear that self-prepared sanctified foods in the mode of goodness act as an antidote to the uncontrolled mind.
Just as when put an iron nail in fire, the iron gradually acquires the qualities of fire and becomes red-hot, similarly, the proper association of persons who have control over the mind has been proven to be a useful tool in reinforcing the determination of those who are striving to control the mind.
Bathing our intellect regularly with transcendental texts helps to purify the mind, and therefore expedites control over the mind.  Rupa Goswami (Prabhupada, 2011) recommends that scholars aspiring to control the mind should scrutinizing study Vaisnava Vendantic literature, inasmuch as that facilitates mind control of the reader.
Sonic therapeutic intervention, taking mind control oriented foods and drinks, listening to music that raises our ethical values, proper association with persons who have control over the mind, reading transcendental literature regularly, and ignoring the unwholesome demands of the mind are some practical tips to control the mind in our globalized era.
